FLEMINGTON, NJ – May 4, 2010 – Trillium Charter School announced that the Hunterdon County YMCA will be providing before-and-after-school child care to all interested families of Trillium students.

The before-school program will run from 7:00am until the school opens at 8:30.  The after-school program will begin at dismissal and run until 6:00pm.  Dismissal is at 3:30pm most days, with an early dismissal at 1:00pm every Wednesday.  The program will take place at the Trillium Charter School at 1 East Main Street in Flemington.

School founders and administrators reviewed several proposals before making their choice.  Rose King, the Dean of Instruction, was part of the interview process and stated, “The YMCA program is strong and complements our educational program and mission.  Activities for children are age-appropriate and blend play, social time, relaxation, and academic support.”  The school differs from other public schools in their commitment to respecting every learner as an individual, involving family and community, and taking care of the environment.

She adds that the charter school was also pleased by the YMCA’s track record in the community.  According to Wendy Crocetti, the Director of School Age Care Programs, the YMCA currently provides before-and-after-school care to eighteen different schools in the county.  “We are thrilled to develop this new partnership with Trillium,” she adds, “as it adds a new level of involvement in the community.”

The program will run every day school is open as well as many days, such as smaller holidays and professional development days, that the school is closed.  Parents can enroll for the before-school session, the after-school session, or both.  There is also an option of enrolling in the after-school session some days of the week, or enrolling in the “drop-in” program for occasional use. Further information regarding the before-and-after-school program is available at the Trillium Charter School website (http://school.TrilliumEducation.org) and Facebook page.

Yvonne Stuck, parent of a child enrolled in next year’s Kindergarten class, says she’s “thrilled” to hear that the Y is partnering with Trillium, because of their reputation in the community.  “As a single parent who works full-time, before-and-after care is critical.  Enrolling in Trillium Charter School is a dream come true for us.”

The school will be holding additional information meetings on May 19th and May 27th at the Hunterdon County Library at 7pm.  Parents interested in learning more about Trillium are urged to attend one of these meetings where key school faculty members lead an informal discussion and answer questions from parents.   Parents can also learn more by visiting the school’s website, emailing info@TrilliumEducation.org, calling the information hotline at (908) 824-0042 or by joining the discussion on Facebook (Trillium Charter School)
